THE PHOTOGRAPHER
STEPHANIE DE JAGER

“My style is timeless, classic, simplistic and romantic and is fashion, editorial and fine art inspired. I draw inspiration from fashion and lifestyle magazines, the latest trends and other artists’ work. However, as the events unfold during the day, I follow a photojournalistic approach, documenting the special moments in an artistic manner. Therefore, I pose shots for effect and artistic value, but when necessary I also follow a documentary approach capturing the special unposed, natural moments artistically.”

tephanie de Jager is a self taught photographer based in Cape Town, South Africa, but willing to travel all over the world to capture beautiful things through her lens. She has been doing photography since 2006, but founded the business in 2014. Together with her husband they gained a lot of photography experience during their University years. Stephanie has a BAccounting Honours degree from the University of Stellenbosch. She started her articles, but didn’t finish as the photography business grew so rapidly and needed her full attention. “I hate not finishing what I’ve started, but my heart and passion lies with the photography and it needs all my time, love and undivided attention.” She is friendly, talkative creative that has a great passion for people and all things pretty. “My love for photography goes back to primary school. Both my parents have a love for photography and so I always took their cameras and experimented with it. During my high school years, my dad's DSLR always accompanied me and I used to shoot school events and portraits for our school newspaper. In my matric year I was the chairman of the photography club. I even shot my first wedding in high school, helping out someone in need. My long term goal was to be a successful fashion, wedding and lifestyle photographer after finishing my studies, articles and a few years work saving up for the equipment. I am a creative and did not fit in the ‘box world’ of an accountant. My need to do photography grew bigger and bigger to a point where my short and long term goals dramatically changed. Needless to say, a few years earlier than expected, I have the best equipment for the job and wonderful clients and I cannot be more happy. I am however grateful for my studies and the wonderful business background I have acquired.”

Stephanie has an immense passion for photography, fashion, people and documenting love (whether between a husband and wife, a couple or a family). She adores working with people and connecting on a personal level. " I am beyond blessed and thankful to do what I love!"

“My husband, Shaun de Jager, is my partner in business and the best fellow shooter. Shaun is currently doing his BSc Computer Science Honnours at the University of Stellenbosch. He is a quiet observer of life and has a strong attention to detail. So, it is safe to say I do most of the talking."

Stephanie and Shaun have been together for 8 years now and are happily married since December 2014. “We are a young, vibrant, active and ambitious couple with a great love for coffee, wildlife, the outdoors, fun adventures together, last minute trips, Apple products, fine dining and photography of course. If you like these things too, there is a good chance we'd be a great fit to photograph your wedding”

MY MISSION WHEN IT COMES TO WEDDINGS

I strive to tell an authentic and elegant story of your big day and is committed to capturing the special inbetween moments. I capture all those precious moments that will become so meaningful as time goes by, creating an amazing visual story of one of the most important days of your lives. It’s not good enough to just be there with a camera. Wedding photographers must be able to get into the heart and soul of the wedding to produce images that truly represent the wedding and the people involved and that is exactly what I do. I am passionate about the love and emotion between you and commit myself to capture it best I can. I want to create an unique and authentic representation of who you are as couple. Despite my professionalism, I also offer a very personal service, as I know I am sharing one of the most special days of your lives with you. I am dedicated to making you feel beautiful, comfortable, relaxed, and able to be yourself. One of my primary objectives is for you to have a brilliant time on your special day. I strongly believe in photos that are natural, fun and not forced…smile, laugh, be yourself and enjoy every moment.

What do I look for? – moments, emotion, reactions, crazy dancing and all of the bits and pieces in between that tell the story of the day. I also think every little detail is important and a photo is the tool to keep a memory stay alive forever. I like to blend in with the festivities, talk to your guests and get involved in the day.

You will enjoy and relax working with me, knowing you are leaving this mission in very safe hands.

SpiderPro Dual Camera System is an absolute game changer. With this system, I don't need to put down my cameras at random places, but always have it next to my body and ready to shoot. When I want to pose the bride, groom or couple my hands are free to do so. I shoot with two camera bodies, mostly with the 50mmf/1.4 and 85mm f/1.4 combo and the SpiderPro Dual Camera System ensure I have both bodies quickly accessible, so that I don't miss a moment. I would definitely recommend either the SpiderPro Single Camera System (for one body shooters) or the SpiderPro Dual Camera System (for two body shooters) - it will really change the way you approach a shoot."

"A great and successful photograph can provoke emotion, raise questions and rekindle memories. It has the power to bring back the thoughts and feelings of a moment in history"
